Key Stage 3
Pupils are taught in teaching groups. One teaching group is taught partly bilingually in selected subjects. Settings take place at the start of Year 8. The course is based on four themes:
Pwy ydy Pwy?/ Revising basic sentence patterns and vocabulary
Hamdden a Theledu / Leisure time and TV
Ysgol / School
Parti / Organising a party
Homework is set regularly and progress is assessed using formative and summative assessments in three attainment targets. Pupils receive regular oral and written feedback. Continuous assessment along with the end of year examination forms the final end of year %.
Key Stage 4
This course will give you first hand experience of the language and will give you the opportunity to reach a level of fluency according to your ability. We will develop your Welsh for social and employment purposes as a good knowledge of the Welsh language is often a requirement. You will be taught in sets according to your past performance in this subject.
There are 2 contexts (A and B) and 2 themes in each one. Themes 1 and 2 are studies in Year 10 and themes 3 and 4 in Year 11:
A1- Byd Gwaith/World of Work
A2- Y Byd o’n Cwmpas/ The World Around Us
B3- Defnydd o’r Gymraeg/ The Use of Welsh
B4- Y Dyfodol/ The Future
