Iaith ar Waith - Year 9 Event
The annual Iaith ar Waith event took place, here at Bryngwyn School, on Thursday 14th July. The event is organised by the Welsh department for the students of Year 9 and aims to inform the pupils on how Welsh is used in the workplace and the importance of bilingualism.
Below, you can view the whole gallery of pictures taken by Miss Cari Greenslade.
This year the morning was opened by the Welsh actor Ioan Hefin who has appeared in numerous films and TV programmes in both English and Welsh - most recently in Hinterland/Gwyll for TV and a film directed by Tim Burton due for release this in September this year - “Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children”. Also taking part this year were; the National Assembly of Wales, Telesgop, Urdd, Cardiff Metropolitan University, Theatr Na’nog, Cwumni Mega with the actor Dafydd Hywel (Glyn from Stella), Menter Iaith Cwm Gwendraeth and Colg Sir Gar. Pupils learnt about the Welsh courses available in further and higher education, the use of Welsh in the media – TV, radio, film, theatre, and magazines.
We would like to thank all of the participants, both visitors and pupils for their hard work in creating a very successful morning, and of course, the Welsh department for aiding our Year 9 pupils' studies of GCSE Applied Welsh.
