Carmarthenshire Council’s elections
Thank you to everyone who’s shared the link to the video regarding Carmarthenshire Council’s elections with years 11, 12 and 13: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EILmiLiaQGs
If you haven’t had an opportunity yet, there’s still time. To remind you:
The Authority is keen to inform 16- and 17-year-olds that, for the first time ever this year, they have the right to vote in the county council elections. The vote is on May 5th but everyone must register to vote by April 14th. You can register via this link: https://www.carmarthenshire.gov.wales/home/council-democracy/elections-voting/register-to-vote/#.YiYawRPP23I
The attached video’s duration is less than 7 minutes – could it be shown to students during morning registration or similar opportunity?
When the video is shared, we kindly ask that you:
i. record a video clip (maximum 5sec long) of some of the classes watching the video and return it to this email address. We will share it on the County Council's social media platforms.
ii. record a few short video clips of individual students - or small groups - saying that they intend to vote in the council elections / why they intend to vote/ why they think voting is important. Again, share them with us so the Council can share them more widely.
iii. give us an idea of how many students in each class have had the opportunity to watch the video.
You are also welcomed to share the film on your school website or social media channels.
** UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY ** The school which demonstrates the greatest enthusiasm for voting will have an opportunity to send one of its students to the election count. To attempt to ensure that it’s a student from your school who secures this opportunity, just send as many enthusiastic student videos as possible
Thanks for your support.
