Our School and the Community

Community focussed schooling is at the heart of everything we do.

Developing a sense of place, purpose, culture and identity is always important to us

We always welcome the opportunity to bring the whole school community together whenever we can

This often involves the natural opportunities that exist through sport and music, drama and educational visits, and also includes Community Celebrations through Prize evenings and Carol services and whole school and community fundraising enterprises

It is about the skills of creativity, togetherness, enquiry and teamwork

As Einstein said" education is that which remains when one has forgotten everything you have learned in school"

It is therefore these opportunities that pupils and parents remember and value most.

 Lesotho

Over the February half term 2023, 12 learners and 3 staff from Bryngwyn had the amazing opportunity to visit our new link school Thaba-Tseka High School in Lesotho. With the support of Taith - Wales' new international learning exchange programme and Dolen Cymru, we were able to spend a week meeting and getting to know our Basotho friends. We were afforded the warmest welcome and incredible friendships were built in a very short space of time. Our learners and teachers experienced life in Lesotho schools, shared native languages, taught about the sustainable development goals (SDGs) and participated in cultural exchanges activities.
Thaba-Tseka High school treated us to a "Mokete" - a traditional celebration of Basotho culture (like our eisteddfod) - packed with singing, dancing, and audience participation. We were delighted to meet and get to know all the learners and staff at Thaba-Tseka High School and look forward to developing and sustaining our friendships. Visiting the Mohale dam and learning about the Lesotho highlands water project together with the learners and staff who will visit us in Wales in June 2023, was a very memorable and enjoyable experience.
This has been an incredible opportunity for us all, a truly a life changing experience and we look forward to welcoming our partners to Wales this June and developing our "Bryn-Tseka" partnership.
